The rose is one of the most loved flower in the world.  There is fossil evidence that the rose was around 35 million years ago and has over 100 species.  Rose gardening is believed to have been started in China 5,000 years ago.   During the Roman empire roses were used in many activities and in perfume.  Roman nobility made beautiful public rose gardens to be enjoyed by everyone.   During the 17th century roses or rose water were considered legal tender. Cultivated roses were introduced to Europe in the 18th century and this is where most of our roses originated.
